Laurel House Family Seminar Series

Join us Thursday evenings for this four part Family Seminar Series as Laurel House staff and guest speakers from the area provide important information on mental health and the available treatment options in our community. Lived experience as well as professional expertise will be shared. Seminar topics vary (see below) and a question and answer session is included at the conclusion of each lecture. The Seminars also provide a forum for families to meet and engage with other families.

Doors open and light refreshments served at 6:00 pm. Seminars begin at 6:30 pm.
Free of charge and open to all aged 18 and older, but donations are welcome.

Eric D. Collins, M.D. is Physician-in-Chief at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, and Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. He was a Research Fellow in Addiction Psychiatry and a Clinical Fellow in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. Dr. Collins is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, and Psychosomatic Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, as well as in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine.

Eli R. Lebowitz, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the Yale Child Study Center Program for Anxiety Disorders where he treats pediatric anxiety, teaches evidence based practice, and is the lead investigator on a number of projects relating to childhood anxiety. He has written a successful book for parents on anxiety in children Treating Childhood and Adolescent Anxiety: A Guide for Caregivers and published a number of chapters and articles on anxiety and cognitive behavioral therapy.

 Carol Monroe, NP, APRN is a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Ms. Monroe received her MSN from Fairfield University. She has a general psychiatry practice in New Canaan where she offers psychotherapy and medication management. In addition, she is a hypnotist and is certified in specialized treatment of trauma using EMDR.

Stephanie Raia, MSW, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist who treats children, adolescents and adults in her New Canaan office. Ms. Raia received an MSW from Columbia University. She also holds several Post Graduate certificates including specialized training in CBT, TF-CBT and post adoption clinical issues.
